A week passes. Then, another. Everyday, there's food, there's drinks. There's the beautiful sunsets and sunrises, the vistas and terraces to look upon.

But, there's no Damon.

I keep myself smooth and fresh for him, like a cultivated tulip ready to pluck. I keep my wardrobe as sexy as possible, especially after the first week of my isolation.

It used to bother me that I was always being watched. It made me self-conscious, even during my yoga practice. I'm used to having so many eyes on me, but this was different. Now, it's like I'm putting on a private show for an audience of one.

I feel like a specimen in a strange kind of zoo sometimes too. All I want to do is see the spectator, in the flesh.

Fantasies plague my dreams, taunting me with so many different scenarios. In all of them, I get off wildly and uncontrollably. Every time, it's with Damon.

I wish I knew what made him run away, to abandon the competition. Was it something I did? Can I do something to get him back?

A dangerous thought has entered my head many times as well. I nip it in the bud as soon as it emerges.

If he doesn't want me anymore, will he set me free?

I think back to the original lecture, moments after he picked me. He told me I'm a means to an end. After all, I guess he was right about me. I was easy to break.

The only problem is, if he broke me, does he have any responsibility to put me back together again?

It's the question that haunts me, night after night while I lie awake in bed, frustrated and desperate for answers. I'm tired of it. I can't do it anymore. I can't wait.

Tonight, there's a thunderstorm brewing up. Lightning has rips across the sky and thunder shakes the walls.

I throw the covers off and step to the door. I need to find him. I pull on the door. There's no reason it should open, but it does. I didn't hear it unlock.

I step out into the hallway, wearing only my red lace nightgown. I wonder if it has been open the whole time. Maybe this has all been another test. I'm going to find out one way or another.

I look around at the magnificent halls. The high ceilings are covered in ornately carved floral patterns. Even in the dim light, I can see how beautiful everything is.

A staircase is at the end of the hall. If Damon's going to be anywhere, it's going to be up at the top of the estate. I assume if I stumble around long enough, he'll figure out that I'm roaming the halls and come find me.

In this case, I hope he'll understand why I wanted to be the squeaky wheel.

I move slowly up the stairs. At the top, there's a door that's slightly open. It's another security door, but it's doing exactly nothing for security now. This has to be on purpose. There's no way the security—which has been very tight up until this point—can be this lax.
